Fitter (with machining capability): The Role
The role involves the assembly and fitting of stainless steel equipment, primarily helical screw based mechanical handling equipment. We expect you to have the experience and knowledge to apply best practice.
You will be working alongside the works manufacturing team and to self-manage workloads, under the direction of the works manager.
The Job
The core duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to;
“Experience of assembly/fitting bespoke fabrications for the Food, confectionary and pharmaceutical industries would be advantageous
“Apprenticeship trained and time served
“Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
“Build and maintain relationships with colleagues
“Good communications skills
“Quick to pick up internal processes and procedures
“A ‘can-do’ attitude and approach to engineering tasks and challenges
“Pro-active and willing to help and support colleagues
Tasks (fitting)
“To assemble machine components in accordance with detailed manufacturing drawings.
“Fitting of in-line/shaft mounted drives/coupling & chain drives/bearings/seals/glands
“Assess fitting tasks and undertake in the most effective manner, while observing the economic route to completion.
“Display competence and knowledge of mechanical fitting.
“Experience with screw conveyors/feeders and similar equipment.
“Review and offer contribution to fitting operations.
“Control and monitor immediate work environment, with attention to Health and Safety and Stock Control of consumables.
“Operate in a job shop production environment.
“Self-inspection of mechanical components.
Tasks (machining)
“To machine components to a specified dimension in accordance with detailed manufacturing drawings.
“Assess machining tasks and undertake in the most effective manner, while observing the economic route to completion.
“Display competence and knowledge of milling, drilling operations. i.e. Limits and fits
“Experience with use of single point carbide cutting tools
“Contribution to improving machining operations.
“Control and monitor immediate work environment, with attention to Health and Safety and Stock Control of consumables.
“Operate in a job shop production environment.
“Screw cutting.
“Self-inspection of machined components.
