Job Title: Estimator
Location: Greater Manchester/Warrington/Liverpool
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000
Join a well-established construction company specialising in fit-out and refurbishment projects within the Healthcare and Education sectors. The aim is to deliver a better construction journey, creating positive experiences and outcomes for clients. Seeking a skilled and experienced Estimator to join a collaborative team based in Greater Manchester with sites in surrounding areas.
Responsibilities:
As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the success of the projects and the company's growth. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Interpreting, distilling, and communicating tender documents internally and externally.
* Conducting site surveys and documenting them with photographic/videographic records.
* Producing professional documentation with CAD support to establish clear tender baselines.
* Identifying and mitigating risks while implementing effective risk management procedures.
* Identifying opportunities and strategizing to enhance project outcomes.
* Measuring and scheduling construction works accurately.
* Planning and implementing procurement processes.
* Analysing and evaluating subcontractors based on cost and value.
* Pricing direct works from first principles, including labour, plant, and materials.
* Managing effective communication procedures, such as TQ/RFI.
* Attending meetings and delivering presentations, including bid settlement and tender adjudication.
* Ensuring smooth handover procedures to QS/Contracts Manager.
* Planning resources at the project and business levels.
* Managing relationships with our supply chain with support from our administrative team.
* Assisting in bid writing, stakeholder relationship management, and framework management as needed.
* Maintaining record keeping and document control with administrative support.
* Mentoring and managing other estimating team members and apprentices.
* Managing and maintaining estimating systems/databases.
Requirements:
* Background in Quantity Surveying or Estimating.
* BSc in Quantity Surveying is required.
* 5+ years of experience (preferably 10 years+) in estimating or quantity surveying roles.
* Ability to work within a team and collaborate effectively.
* Strong focus on attention to detail and accuracy in estimating.
* Must live within a 45-minute commute from our offices to ensure easy access to sites.
