Position Title: M&E Estimator
Location: Merseyside, UK

Job Summary:
* Full-Time

* Salary: £40,000-£50,000 plus package
Working Hours:
* Monday to Friday

Location Requirement:
* Candidates must be located within a 45-minute to 1-hour commute from the headquarters in Merseyside.
Role Overview:
The M&E Estimator will play a crucial role in our client's pre-construction team, focusing on the accurate estimation and cost management of mechanical and electrical aspects of office and warehouse refurbishment projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing detailed cost estimates, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring the financial viability of projects within the commercial and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare detailed and accurate mechanical and electrical cost estimates for refurbishment projects.
* Analyse project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
* Price tenders for new jobs, ensuring competitive and accurate pricing.
* Attend site visits and scoping meetings to gather essential project information.
* Collaborate with project managers, tradespeople, and other stakeholders to gather essential project information.
* Assess material, labour, and equipment costs and apply industry standards and pricing.
* Review and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing.
* Maintain and nurture sound commercial relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
* Participate in project bid processes, including attending pre-bid meetings and site visits.
* Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
* Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
* Prepare and present estimate reports to senior management and clients.
* Update and maintain a database of cost information and historical data.
* Ensure compliance with all company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Proven experience as an estimator in the mechanical and/or electrical construction industry.
* In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems within the context of office and warehouse refurbishments.
* Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing.
* Proficient in estimating software and tools preferably Microsoft Excel.
* Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
Education:
* A degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not essential. Or took the trade-route into electrical field and moved over to estimating.
Skills:
* Proficiency in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
* Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
* Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
