Job Title: Pre-Construction / Estimating Manager
Location: Office-based Salary Range: £40,000 - £60,000 per annum (all inclusive)
Benefits: 24 days holiday plus bank holidays, Pension scheme, Private healthcare

Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Pre-Construction / Estimating Manager to manage the pre-construction and estimating phases of our projects, from initial concept through to handover. Reporting to senior management, you will be responsible for delivering detailed, competitive quotations and bids. Once projects are awarded, you will support order negotiation and ensure a smooth handover to the Contracts Manager, assisting as needed through the lifecycle of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating and Bid Management
Produce accurate, high-detail cost estimates, quotations, and bids across various project types.
Collaborate with clients to understand project requirements and provide high-quality pre-construction insights.
Lead project bids confidently, occasionally presenting and pitching to clients.
Supply Chain & Procurement
Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive prices.
Manage supply chain orders from initial inquiry through to procurement and delivery. Maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure high-quality materials and services.
Project Oversight
Manage projects from conception through handover, ensuring efficient planning and project setup.
Coordinate with design, build, and client teams to align project objectives and timelines.
Assist the Contracts Manager post-handover if additional support is needed. Client Interaction Build and maintain client relationships, offering clear and concise communication at all stages.
Present project bids and negotiate terms with professionalism and confidence.
Qualifications & Experience:
Background in Quantity Surveying (QS) or similar, with demonstrable experience in pre-construction and estimating roles.
Proven ability to produce accurate and competitive estimates within construction or a related industry.
Strong understanding of Detail & Build, Design & Build, and Traditional construction methods.
Experience in managing supply chains, procurement, and negotiating contracts.
Skills and Attributes:
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently and professionally with clients.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Well-presented, articulate, and comfortable in a client-facing environment. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, depending on project requirements.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
You are a highly detailed, well-spoken Pre-Construction / Estimating professional, capable of carrying projects through from bid to handover. You should have a keen eye for detail, excellent numerical skills, and a strong understanding of the construction process, including estimating, procurement, and client management.
