Location: Manchester (Hybrid Working Available)

Salary: £25,000 - £35,000 per annum

About the Role:

A rapidly expanding consultancy based in their new Manchester office is seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with 1-2 years of post-graduate experience who is eager to develop their skills in a supportive and nurturing environment. Welcoming applications from candidates with experience in either a consultancy or a main contractor background.

The role will primarily involve working on a variety of exciting projects in sectors such as industrial warehouses, logistics, and infrastructure, with plans to diversify into residential projects. You will gain exposure to all aspects of quantity surveying, with the opportunity to develop your technical expertise while working alongside a talented team of professionals.

This is very much a developmental role for someone looking to grow and progress in the industry. The successful candidate will be provided with the support and resources to work towards chartership, and we will cover the costs for RICS membership. Hybrid working is available, but we anticipate that the successful candidate will be in the office more frequently as they continue their development.

Key Responsibilities:

Interpreting technical design information and providing detailed cost analysis.

Assisting in the preparation of accurate project cost monitoring, forecasting, and reporting against project appraisals.

Proactively monitoring and managing cost variance and contract cash flow.

Ensuring that applications for payment are made correctly and in a timely manner.

Collaborating with client and contractor teams to manage cost control and value engineering on a variety of projects.

Supporting senior team members in the overall delivery of the project, ensuring accuracy and compliance with budgets.

Assisting with the preparation of tender documents, contracts, and cost plans.

Key Requirements:

A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.

Ideally 1-2 years of post-graduate experience in a consultancy setting, though candidates from main contractor backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.

A strong desire to develop and progress within the field of quantity surveying.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to interpret and work with technical drawings and design information.

A proactive approach to problem-solving and managing tasks.

Additional Benefits:

Support for RICS chartership and payment for RICS membership fees.

Competitive salary between £25K - £35K per annum.

Car allowance provided.

Hybrid working environment (with preference for a junior role to be office-based more often).
