Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor-Estimator
Location: Northampton (3 days in the office, flexible on location within 30-45 minutes)
Salary: £50K - £70K + Car Allowance (Depending on Experience)

Our client is a well-established main contractor based in Northampton, specialising in fit-out and refresh projects across various sectors. With a solid reputation for delivering high-quality work, they handle projects ranging from care homes and offices to retail, hotels, and heritage properties. The company is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor-Estimator to join their growing team.
Role Overview:
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Quantity Surveyor (QS) with over 10 years of experience in fit-out and refresh projects. You will be responsible for managing projects from inception to completion, including procurement, variations, and contract management. The role will involve working on complete fit-out packages, including M&E and joinery, although you don't need extensive technical knowledge in these areas. The Quantity Surveyor-Estimator will be expected to cost using various methods, including Schedule of Rates, Negotiated, and 2-stage tenders.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage projects from inception to completion, including procurement, variations, and contract management.
Price fit-out and refresh projects across sectors such as care homes, offices, retail, hotels, heritage, and medical, ensuring all packages are costed accurately and effectively.
Work across complete fit-out packages, including M&E and joinery. While detailed technical knowledge is not required, an understanding of these areas is essential for pricing.
Cost projects using four different methods: Schedule of Rates, Negotiated, 2-stage tenders, and transactional pricing.
Manage the procurement process and ensure timely and accurate variations.
Maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Provide regular cost reports and updates to senior management.
Collaborate closely with project managers and other departments to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
Ensure compliance with all relevant contracts and agreements throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Requirements:
A qualified Quantity Surveyor with 10+ years of experience in fit-out and refresh projects.
Strong experience in managing projects from inception to completion.
Ability to cost using multiple methods: Schedule of Rates, Negotiated, 2-stage tenders, and transactional pricing.
Experience with full fit-out packages, including M&E and joinery.
Knowledge of working across a range of sectors, including care homes, offices, retail, hotels, heritage, and medical.
Must be local to the Northampton office (within 30-45 minutes travel time).
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently and manage projects effectively.
Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail.
Desirable:
Experience with small new-build projects (although this is not the primary focus).
Experience working with both main contractors and subcontractors.
Proficient in using relevant QS and estimation software tools.
