Our team is committed to delivering exceptional results, and we are looking to add a talented and driven Assistant Quantity Surveyor (AQS) or Graduate to support our growing commercial team.

Position Overview:We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Graduate to join our dynamic commercial team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong willingness to learn and develop their career in quantity surveying. You will be involved in both estimating and quantity surveying duties, supporting the team in various aspects of project delivery, while benefiting from excellent mentorship and training.

As an AQS/Graduate, you will be tasked with carrying out essential legwork, assisting with the preparation of estimates, and supporting the team throughout all stages of the project lifecycle. This is a hands-on role where you will gain exposure to both pre-construction and post-construction activities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Support senior quantity surveyors in the preparation of estimates, cost plans, and budgets.

Assist with measuring and pricing works, preparing tender documents, and reviewing contractor submissions.

Carry out site visits to assess progress and ensure work is carried out to the required standards.

Maintain accurate records of project costs, variations, and additional works.

Help prepare and manage subcontractor procurement processes.

Assist with the preparation of interim valuations and final accounts.

Provide general administrative support to the commercial team, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.

Learn and develop estimating and quantity surveying skills under the guidance of senior team members.

Conduct market research to support the procurement of materials and subcontractors.

Ensure compliance with company procedures and policies regarding cost control and financial management.

 

Education/Experience:

Ideally, you will have completed a relevant degree (Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar).

A minimum of 1 year's experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential.

 

Skills & Attributes:

A strong willingness to learn and develop in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Ability to work well under guidance while also being self-motivated and capable of taking initiative.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Knowledge of the construction industry, particularly in retail and leisure fit-outs, would be advantageous but not essential.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.). Experience with cost management software is a plus.
