Company Overview:

A dynamic and growing main contractor based in Bromsgrove, specialising in nationwide projects within the retail sector. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects, the company is expanding its work into the food & beverage market, including restaurant chains. A significant portion of their business comes from repeat clients within the high street retail sector.

Position Overview:

Looking for a Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in both Quantity Surveying and Estimating (50/50 split). This is a mid-career opportunity for an experienced professional to hit the ground running and manage projects in the retail and food & beverage sectors.

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for all financial and contractual aspects of projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. You will also have a significant role in tendering and estimating for new projects, contributing to the company's continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Quantity Surveying: Manage the financial and contractual aspects of retail and food & beverage construction projects. This includes preparing cost estimates, measuring work on-site, managing subcontracts, and ensuring compliance with contract conditions.

Estimating: Help the team to prepare accurate and competitive tender submissions for new projects, ensuring all costs are considered and budgets are aligned.

Tender Management: Take an active role in tender processes, providing detailed analysis and presenting cost breakdowns.

Client Liaison: Foster strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure that the project scope and budget are clearly understood and met.

Site Visits: Conduct site visits (up to twice a week) to monitor progress, validate work completed, and liaise with project teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

Cost Control: Monitor and control project budgets, highlighting any risks and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

Project Management: Ensure that projects are delivered on time and within financial constraints, with a focus on repeat business from high street retail clients.

Skills & Experience Required:

Mid-career experience: Ideally 5 years of experience in Quantity Surveying and Estimating, with a proven track record of working in the construction industry.

Retail Sector Experience: Experience within the retail sector is essential, particularly in managing projects in the high street retail environment.

Tendering Expertise: Significant experience in tendering and estimating, with the ability to produce accurate cost breakdowns and submissions.

Food & Beverage Experience (desirable): Experience in delivering projects within the food & beverage sector, especially restaurant chains, is a plus as the company expands into this market.

Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for liaising with clients, contractors, and suppliers.

Ability to Work Independently: Must be capable of working autonomously and managing your workload efficiently.

Site Management Knowledge: Understanding of site management processes and the ability to conduct effective site visits.

Full Driving License: As the role involves site visits, a full UK driving license is required.

Working Environment:

Office-based: Primarily based in the Bromsgrove office with site visits (up to twice per week).

WFH Fridays: Enjoy the flexibility of working from home on Fridays.

Nationwide Projects: The role will involve managing projects across the UK, offering diversity in project types and locations.

Benefits:

Competitive salary between £50,000 and £65,000 per annum.

£5,000 Car Allowance.

Healthcare plan.

Pension scheme with employer contributions.

Generous holiday entitlement.

Career progression opportunities as the company expands in the retail and food & beverage markets.
